Celebrate ENERGY STAR® Day with a Scavenger Hunt

To celebrate ENERGY STAR® Day this year, we’ve created some fun family activities that will help you find out just how energy efficient your home is (and your kids will love it)! Below you’ll find directions for the activities and some helpful tips for both kids and parents on the importance of being energy efficient.

For Kids:

Find out just how energy efficient your home is by going on this fun scavenger hunt with your parents! When you’re finished, print out the ENERGY STAR Memory Game, cut apart the cards, and find a partner! We’ve even included an “envelope” you can create that will hold your memory cards when you’re finished. When you’ve successfully completed the scavenger hunt, commit to more savings by taking the ENERGY STAR pledge!

For Parents:

Most of us know how important it is to be energy efficient, but how much do we really know about the subject? How much money could you save if your home was more energy efficient? Here are a few facts and tips to making your home more energy efficient:

Search your local utility’s website for home audit or incentive programs to identify and help pay for energy efficiency improvements. Homeowners can save an average of 5-30% off their energy bill by making efficiency upgrade identified in energy audits.[1]

Research options to maximize the energy efficiency of your windows. If you have older, inefficient windows, replacing them with ENERGY STAR certified models can save you 12% on average nationally on your utility bills.[2]
